AI is changing how pet owners search for veterinary care, and clinics have new opportunities to connect with potential clients. At Vet Together 2026, Vetcelerator explored how AI-powered search, digital visibility, and conversion-focused marketing can help veterinary practices attract new clients and increase appointments. Discover our key takeaways and practical steps your clinic can take to turn online visibility into measurable growth.

“We need more growth. More veterinarians. More pet owners. More appointments. And while we’re at it, can we spend a little less?” That pretty much sums up Vetcelerator’s conversations at Vet Together 2026. These are some of our favorite conversations because we shine at supporting veterinary practice growth while keeping costs in check.

Beyond growth and savings, though, another topic that kept coming up was artificial intelligence (AI) and how it’s changing how pet owners find veterinary care.

This year, Vetcelerator has been exploring how AI, digital visibility, and conversion-focused marketing work together to attract new clients to veterinary practices. Vet Together gave us the opportunity to talk to practices directly about AI.

Here’s what stood out from our conversations and what veterinary practices can do now that the search landscape is changing.

The Vet Together Experience

If you’ve never been to Vet Together, imagine speed dating between practices and companies in the veterinary industry. We had twelve minutes with each practice: about 2–5 minutes to introduce Vetcelerator and the rest to discuss the clinic’s goals and challenges. Twelve minutes goes by quickly when you’re covering everything: recruiting, client acquisition, pharmaceutical savings, AI, digital presence, and more.

This was also Vetcelerator’s first year with a booth at Vet Together, giving us the opportunity to connect one-on-one with practice owners and their teams and share ideas for turning marketing efforts into measurable practice growth.

While every practice had its own priorities, one conversation kept resurfacing: how AI is changing the way pet owners search for and choose veterinary clinics.

How AI Search Is Changing the Way Pet Owners Find Veterinary Clinics

One of the most buzzy topics at Vet Together 2026 was AI and its effect on veterinary marketing.

There was a mix of curiosity and some understandable uncertainty about how pet owners are using AI to find veterinary care. Our thoughts? A lot of time was spent talking about how AI will change things, but many of those changes are already happening.

Pet Owners Are In Conversations with AI Bots

Artificial intelligence researching veterinary clinics, comparing providers, and calling veterinary hospitals on behalf of pet owners.

Think about how someone searches for a veterinarian today.

In many cases, instead of simply typing “vet near me” into Google, pet owners are increasingly asking more specific, conversational questions through AI-powered search tools like ChatGPT, Claude, and Google’s Gemini AI search features.

These can be questions like:

“What’s the best veterinarian near me for a senior Labradoodle with arthritis?

“Which veterinary clinics near me offer same-day appointments?”

These longer, more conversational searches are changing how people discover and evaluate veterinary practices. AI-generated search results can answer questions and compare options. Pet owners use these results to make decisions before they ever visit a veterinary clinic’s website.

Adapting Your Practice’s Digital Presence to AI

Your veterinary clinic’s digital presence needs to communicate who you are and why people should choose your practice.

The good news is your veterinary website, blog, social media content, and overall digital presence still plays an important role. Learn more from our blog: Conversion-Focused: Removing Friction So Pet Owner Clients Can “See Your Movie”.

Consistency, trust, and transparency are equally as important. In fact, they’re key to building your clinic’s digital presence as AI becomes more integrated into search.

Want Your Veterinary Clinic to Show Up in AI Search?

Start With the Questions Pet Owners Are Already Asking

One of the easiest recommendations Vetcelerator shared at the event was to pay attention to what your clients ask. Your front desk team probably answers dozens of questions every day that could become valuable website content. These are the exact questions pet owners ask AI tools and search engines.

Talk to your team. Practice owners can even check phone call transcripts if you have them available. Look at what pet owners are asking in local online communities like your town’s or county’s Reddit. These are valuable sources of information about what pet owners in your local area want to know.

Then, Answer Those Targeted Questions

Turn those insights into content by:

  • Adding FAQs to your website,
  • Creating blog articles,
  • Sharing educational posts on social media, and/or
  • Making sure your service pages clearly describe what your practice offers.

Providing clear, relevant information gives search engines and AI more useful material to reference your practice. Of course, showing up in search results is only part of the equation.

AI is Changing the Path to an Appointment

Another trend Vetcelerator has noticed is the connection between website engagement and appointment requests. We’ve seen cases where visitors spend less time browsing websites, but phone calls and appointment requests go up. One possible reason is that pet owners are doing more research through AI before they even reach your website. By the time they visit your site, they may already know what services they need from your practice and be ready to schedule an appointment.

This is a valuable opportunity for veterinary practices, but it means that your website should make that next step as simple as possible.

We’ve explored this in previous articles about Conversion-Focused Ads and Conversion-Focused Websites. The main takeaway is that getting a pet owner’s attention matters, but that attention only helps increase appointments if you make it easy to take action.

4 Ways to Turn AI Search Visibility Into Veterinary Appointments

1. Make your phone number impossible to miss.

Keep your contact information visible, especially on mobile devices, and make it clickable so pet owners can call with one tap. This information should be clearly readable to both pet owners and AI search.

We’ve written a few articles about phones:

2. Make appointment scheduling easy and transparent.

If your clinic offers online scheduling, make that booking option prominent. Even better, show the next available appointment when your scheduling technology supports it. Here’s a next-level example of doing online booking right: easyvet Iowa Colony.

3. Answer questions where they matter.

Include specific information on your service pages, FAQs, and other relevant website content. If someone is looking for dental care, they should be able to understand your clinic’s dental services and easily request an appointment.

4. Give pet owners a clear next step.

Your call-to-action should be easy to find and understand. Think phrases like “Book an Appointment,” “Call Our Team,” or “Request a Visit.”

Small improvements to the way your website communicates can make a big difference in how pet owners engage with your practice.

Vet Together 2026 Takeaway

Vetcelerator left Vet Together thinking about how connected all these conversations are. Practices want to attract new clients and keep existing clients engaged while managing costs more effectively. At the same time, the way pet owners research and choose veterinary care is changing. As AI continues to shape how pet owners find veterinary care, a strong digital presence and an easy path to booking an appointment will only become more valuable.
